A whole new perspective

I'm sure most if not all of us can relate to the feeling of gaining a fresh new perspective on something that they know so well. I was lucky enough to experience this new shedding of light if I may say on a bible passage that is oh-so-familiar to me. I mean, I grew up colouring pictures depicting this passage in Sunday School and read it a zillion times but today was a different experience altogether.

The passage was Exodus 2: 1-10. When my pastor preached about the connection between the basket that Moses was put into and Noah's ark and also Jesus, inevitably, that really blew my mind away. I mean, I always knew the story of baby Moses floating on the Nile. But I never knew that there was such a significance between these three events or elements, dare I say.

First he made the connection between the papyrus basket Moses was put in and Noah's ark, stating that the greek word for 'basket' is literally translated into the word ark. And what's even more mind baffling is the thought that both Genesis (where the story of Noah's ark is found) and Exodus were authored by the same guy! So, this isn't a variation of words or a rainbow of vocabulary that we see here. It's something more deeper and profound than that.

You must be thinking what huge significance this is. But what baffled me was that there is a huge one staring back at me, point blank. Noah and his family were 'floating' on flood waters which The Lord sent to earth to destroy. And baby Moses was floating in a basket on the Nile towards Pharaoh's palace which was the place of his doom (Pharaoh ordered all Hebrew male babies to be killed, but Moses was kept under wraps by his mom for 3 months). Here we see the connection numero uno!

And the next connection we see is how this ultimately points to Jesus Christ who is the ark of our faith. We are in Him, so to speak as passengers of a vessel. He is the vessel that keeps us from all danger and He leads us to our destination which is our salvation. Hmm, that rocked my socks! I was so amazed about this whole thing that I just HAD to blog about it. You know, something like sharing the joy around. I just had to share this amazing piece of information with someone, anyone. =)

I have to say that I am re-discovering the jewels in the bible more and more. As a wise person once said, you can never know too much of the bible as God keeps shedding new light on it, EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Later.

.when three's NOT a crowd.

Hi Blogging world.

Well, let's see what made my day today... Hmm, it most definitely had to be the exuberant experience of gracing the Iasi Day/Celebration festive kiosks with a certain Ms. Liz Spangler and Ms. Tomi Ogunnaike. Walking through countless stalls that boasted artificial fur coats, PVC boots trying their very best to pretend to be leather boots, mountains of barbecued meat and gallons of cheap beer and wine made us realize how European our ambiance really was. =)

We had a glorious lunch of GREASY 'mici', which is a Romanian variation grilled minced meat rolls. YUMMY! Following that, we didn't have much time to walk around as Tomi and I had to rush to class. But on our way to class, we managed to snag another snack, gogosi or the (only) Romanian variation of mini donuts. They were basically fried rings of dough which were then smothered with a sweet topping sauce of one's preference. We chose factory made, artificially engineered strawberry topping, which wasn't too bad, I have to say.

And to spice up my evening, UMF (my beloved University) just had to throw one of its' many tantrums yet again. Yay to Romanian bureaucracy.

ps: as this is a first post, I shall keep it short and sweet.
